The Re-branding/Re-imaging Issue

Consolidations and mergers in the petroleum business have created situations where older canopies have been re-imaged to portray a new brand. When a new image is applied through changes in the aluminum fascia, many owners assume that their canopy is “as good as new” because of its updated appearance, when in fact it may be in poor condition. In creating the new design, additional layers of fascia may have been added to an already compromised structure, or the original weight capacity of the steel columns may not be sufficiently designed to bear the new load. Either problem might cause the structure to bend, tilt, or collapse.

A Canopex inspection before re-imaging can prevent any problems by evaluating the structure’s integrity and creating a responsible plan for the re-imaging process. If structural problems are found, they can be repaired before new fascia is applied.
